The microscope is a standalone instrument; all images are saved directly to a USB stick, so make sure you have one connected to the speed USB slot at the back of the microscope before you start working.

The microscope software can be installed on any PC. You can download it from the MassLab drive Here

Switch On

Press ON/OFF button at the back of the microscope.

Wait for the LED to turn white (ready).

The live image appears on the monitor.

Turn on the light and if needed also the external lights.

lenses

We have 1X and 0.3X lenses; only one can be installed at a time. The lenses are kept in a box in the cabinet above the microscope.

The 1X lens comes with an adaptor installed.

To replace a lens, first disconnect the light holder

Hold the lens from the bottom without touching the lens itself, then place it in the lens box (the X1 lens in a bag first).

If the 1X lens is installed, disconnect the adaptor as well.

After replacing the lens, enter the settings and choose the correct lens.

Basic Operation

Focus:

Use the focus knobs to bring the sample into sharp view.

Zoom:

Rotate the zoom knob to change magnification. Click-stop: Push the slider toward the knob to enable fixed zoom steps (for measurements).

Illumination:

Press the light button to turn on LEDs; adjust brightness with + / – buttons. This is a segmented light system, so it is possible to turn off part of the LEDs and also to illuminate from the side of the diagonal. In order to switch between the different modes, press the middle button on the left side of the light and use the arrows to change the direction of the light.

Capture Images

1. Insert USB stick in USB SPEED port.
2. Use the on-screen display (OSD) or optional footswitch to take pictures.
3. Images are saved in JPG/TIF/BMP format and can be found in the gallery icon
4. White balance: set a white paper to calibrate the balance.
5. Compare option: choose an image from the gallery with right-click, choose the compare option, and can see both the live image and the image to compare.
6. -/+ bottom: camera setting, can change between full automatic and manual mode.
7. Measurement: can be done on a live image only, but can use the freeze mode in the measurement mode

Turn off the camera and light at the end of use

1. Cover the microscope when not in use.
2. Clean lenses with lens cloth and ethanol (never harsh chemicals).
3. Do not disassemble parts.
